Meaning Behind the Name

Fafnir is the son of the Dwarf king, Hreidmar.  In Norse mythology, Fafnir is known to have killed his father out of greed to take hold of the wealth and treasure. After being cursed by Andvari's ring and gold, Fafnir is transformed into a dragon with armored scales that are unable to be penetrated by ordinary weapons. He is eventually slain by Sigurd.
